Yahoo! sent out an update today on their search alliance with Microsoft (Bing).  Bing results will begin to show in Yahoo! in the beginning of September and Yahoo states that 30% of search queries will be powered by Bing results.

If organic search is important to your business, here are three valuable tips to help make sure you’re prepared:

  1. Compare your organic search rankings on Yahoo! Search and Bing for the keywords that work best for you.
  2. Decide if you’d like to modify your paid search campaigns to compensate for any changes in organic referrals that you anticipate.
  3. Review the Bing webmaster tools and optimize your website for the Microsoft platform crawler, as Bing listings will be displayed for approximately 30% of search queries after this change, according to comScore.
  4. Use an SEO Platform or SEO Software system that will automate the monitoring of keyword phrases and other SEO related data. Otherwise, your month end report may come to late – keyword rankings are changing on a daily basis!

If you haven’t started using an SEO platform to keep track of your keyword phrase ranking in Google, Yahoo! and Bing – then you should really make this a top consideration this fall.  Keeping track of the changes in Yahoo! and Bing should be a top priority in every marketing department.
