One of Canada’s hottest startups adds bench strength, looks to build on early success
Toronto, ON, September 8, 2011: gShift Labs, the creator of a patent-pending SEO software system that is giving marketers better control over their organic search campaigns, today announced several key changes to its Board of Directors, providing the award-winning technology startup with added depth as gShift gears up for accelerated growth. The changes, ratified at the company’s AGM also see several outgoing board members moving to gShift’s Advisory Board. gShift founder and CEO, Krista LaRiviere retains the role of Board chair.

Scott Pelton is Vice President at GrowthWorks Capital Ltd., Canada’s leading venture capital firm. Mr. Pelton serves on the board of Bering Media Inc., and as a director has helped guide the success of numerous technology companies. Previously he served as a director of Sysomos Inc., a leading social media monitoring platform that had a successful exit in 2010.
Robin Hopper is founder of Awareness, Inc. and a serial entrepreneur with years of experience in social media, marketing automation, and content management. Robin’s skills span all operational areas, with core focus in product strategy, sales, marketing and business development. With the founding of both iUpload and Awareness, he pioneered SaaS content management and social media technologies for enterprises and publishers including McDonalds, Kodak, Exxon, CVS, State Farm, Newsweek, Sony, The New York Times, American Airlines and many others.
Scott Vanderwel is an Associate Partner with Monitor Group, and the Head of Operations for the Canadian Practice. His consulting has largely focused on developing growth strategies across a diverse range of clients and issues. More specifically, over the last decade he has helped his clients articulate their corporate and business unit strategies, manage and accelerate the performance of their portfolios, and ultimately drive growth. He brings extensive expertise across traditional, new media, entertainment and information markets and their associated business models. In addition to his consulting activities, Mr. Vanderwel is volunteer advisor with the MaRS Discovery District, and serves a broad portfolio of companies in this capacity. Previously he served as a director of RealSign and most recently with Sysomos Inc.
Peter Smith is the Managing Partner of The Meaford Group, whose services range from strategy development through to execution for go-to-market processes (specifically sales, professional services, alliances and marketing) for software and other high tech companies. He brings extensive North American experience in managing organizational change, resulting in growth and increased profitability in the technology industry. Peter also serves as director of CSDC Systems Inc. and Headcount Corporation.
