(Barrie, Ontario) December 23, 2014 – The staff of gShift, a local SEO Software company with international reach, gave back to the local community today with towers of food. A donation of food and other items weighing in at two-hundred and twenty-five pounds was dropped off at the Barrie Food Bank by team members Mike Winger and Nathan Allen.
The food drive campaign was spearheaded by Mike Winger, a software developer at gShift. In order to build up the enthusiasm for the food drive, staff were separated into two teams and on the last day each team was required to build a tower with their donated items; both towers reached nearly ten feet in height.
The Barrie Food Bank provides temporary food relief to individuals and families of our community who are in need, and to serve as a resource to guide them along the road to self sufficiency.
According to Krista LaRiviere, COO of gShift, “it’s important that even though we are a global business that we give back to our local community. Mike Winger did a great job taking his idea and running with it and our staff did a great job bringing in donations. The Barrie Food Bank provides a vital service to our community and it’s great to be able to support them especially during the holiday season.”
All of the donations were raised over a two week period and delivered to the Barrie Food Bank on Tuesday, December 23rd. Items donated included diapers, juice boxes, canned vegetables, and a variety of other non-perishable food items.
