Here at gShift, we are consistently looking for new ways to give back to our community. Liz Scheffer, a member of our gShift family, had a very special request, and one that was very close to heart. She requested we give to The YMCA Strong Kids campaign, which is committed to raising money for children of low-income families to have a chance to go to summer camp.

Liz had been introduced to the campaign over the more than 12 years her sister’s kids went to the camp. From campers to staff, they were witness to many other children who were lucky enough to benefit from Strong Kids donations.

Through generous financial donations to the YMCA Strong Kids annual fundraising, children from all over Ontario will attend the YMCA Wanakita Camp, who normally wouldn’t be able to. gShift is happy to be able to have contributed towards this mission.

It turns out Camp Wanakita isn’t just a summer camp; it runs all year round, offering programs for kids and families alike to experience all that Muskoka has to offer. Imagine waking up on the shores of Koshlong Lake with the strong scent of pine trees and a fading campfire aroma. You slowly open your eyes still able to picture the beautiful, breathtaking display of stars and planets that hang above you as you fell asleep around a smoldering campfire. Excited, yet anxious to get up and start a day, not knowing what adventures lie in the hours to come.

Camp Wanakita is the perfect setting to make new, life-long friends, to learn and discover talents you didn’t even know you had.

At gShift, we believe that it’s important for children in our communities to have a chance to feel connected and accepted in order to become strong and healthy. By investing in our youth today, we will give them the confidence and courage they need to become leaders and empower them to dream of a bright future.
